The diagnostic audiologic evaluation an important assessment that determines the type of hearing loss in one or both ears. Audiologists take data from multiple tests, including pure-tone audiometry, tympanometry and speech audiometry. Each one of these tests builds an accurate profile towards corrective treatment, if necessary. Once the type of hearing loss is pinpointed, the next step in the process becomes possible.

The hearing aid evaluation is a process that includes an in-depth consultation of patient needs. Personal preferences, lifestyle and even current hearing challenges are all things that are considered. It is important for the audiologist to confirm all of these things before making recommendations for a hearing aid.
More on Evaluation for Hearing AidsHearing aids need maintenance or repairs to function properly. The most common maintenance tip is to clean the device of any debris or wax. Occasional cleanings will prevent the most problematic issues of owning a hearing aid. When the problem can’t be handled by normal maintenance, the clinic is the choice to handle an onsite repair. As a final step, anything that can’t be fixed locally is shipped off to the original manufacturer for a full repair or replacement.
